Effect of high-voltage discharge on the particle size of hard alloy powders

Abstract: The effect of high-voltage discharge treatment of Fe-20% TiC and VK6-1% ASUD75 diamond powder mixtures on their particle size and morphology is examined. It is shown that high-voltage discharge treatment in a powder suspension permits substantial refinement in the particle size and increase in the shape factor and specific surface area.
