Effect of Glutamate on the Electrical Properties of Cationic Solid Lipid Nanoparticles Containing Stearylamine and Dioctadecyldimethyl Ammonium Bromide

Abstract: Electrical properties, including electrophoretic mobility, zeta potential, total surface charge density, and surface charge density resulting from primary amino groups, of cationic solid lipid nanoparticles (CSLNs) were investigated in the present study. Cationic lipids including stearylamine (SA) and dioctadecyldimethyl ammonium bromide (DODAB) were covered on the external cores of CSLNs. The influences of glutamate concentration in the medium, composition of cationic lipids, and surfactant species were espec… Show more

“…Based on widespread observation, the estimated thickness of membrane, d, is about 10 nm and the estimated reciprocal of softness, l, is 3.05 Â 10 8 m À1 [14]. Thus, the radius of the cytoplasm and nucleus, a (defined as b-d), is 5.99 mm in this case.…”

“…First, SQV is a hydrophobic drug. Therefore, the hydrophobic interaction between double‐tailed EQ 1 and SQV was stronger than that between single‐tailed SA and SQV . As a result, a high content of EQ 1 could tightly grasp SQV, yielding dense superficial lipid zones on SQV‐CSLNs and small particles.…”

“…The cytotoxicity of NVP-SLNs and HSA/NVP-SLNs could be attributed to the following reasons. First, the electrostatic attraction between the cationic colloids and negatively charged HBMECs could affect the transfer of materials in cells and reduce the biocompatibility [42,43]. Second, the contact of nanoparticles with HBMECs yielded a secretion of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines [44].…”
