Effect of functionalized graphene oxide with hyperbranched POSS polymer on mechanical and dielectric properties of cyanate ester composites

Abstract: Functionalized graphene oxide with a hyperbranched POSS polymer was designed and synthesized and then compounded with dicyclopentadiene bisphenol dicyanate ester to prepare nanocomposites.

“…The narrow-range XPS of C 1s in GOTESFe is shown in Figure S3b, where an expansive peak from 282 eV to 289 eV is noticeable. It is noteworthy that there is an absence of peaks in the C 1s spectrum of GOTESFe corresponding to the non-oxygenated ring C atoms, C–OH, C–O–C, and C atoms in carboxyl groups, a clear indication of the successful surface functionalization of graphene oxide nanosheets with Fe 3 O 4 , APTES, and FeL. , …”

“…It is noteworthy that there is an absence of peaks in the C 1s spectrum of GOTESFe corresponding to the nonoxygenated ring C atoms, C−OH, C−O−C, and C atoms in carboxyl groups, a clear indication of the successful surface functionalization of graphene oxide nanosheets with Fe 3 O 4 , APTES, and FeL. 59,61 The magnetic measurements of Fe 3 O 4 and GOTESFe have been executed at room temperature, and the results are shown in Figure S4. The specific saturation magnetization (M s ) values for Fe 3 O 4 and GOTESFe are 63.29 and 26.466 emu g −1 , respectively.…”

“…It is clear from the results that there is almost 40 °C increase in thermal stability achieved by the incorporation of 4 wt % GOPOSS to sPS. The enhanced thermal stability in the presence of GOPOSS can be due to the inherent heat resistance of the POSS molecules along with the tortuous path effect of the layered material in the polymer matrix. , The homogeneous arrangement of the layered filler in the sPS matrix, as shown in the schematic representation in the inset of Figure a, will help to prevent the easy permeation of heat through the matrix. The thermal conductivity measured for sPS–GOPOSS is shown in Figure b.…”

“…Figure 1(c) illustrates the XRD spectrum of the GO. A typical single strong peak [25] appeared at approximately 11.35°. Because the XRD signal of the PTFE fibers is very intense and only a small amount of GO is anchored on the fiber surface, the surface changes of LbL-6-fabric is difficult to examine using this technique.…”
