“…The beam failed at 462 8C, and the failure mode was that the top concrete was crushed. Jiang et al (2022) proposed that with the increase of freeze-thaw cycles, the failure mode of CFRP at a tensile state changed from fracture failure to splitting failure, and the tensile strength and elongation decreased. In a freeze-thaw climate, the failure mode of CFRP-strengthened RC beams shifts from bending to shear, and the ultimate load drops.…”

“…The chemical medium penetrates, diffuses and reacts chemically inside the composites, thus exfoliating the bonding interface and causing structural instability and strength loss (Batuwitage et al , 2017; Zhu et al , 2017). A few scientific papers (Jiang et al , 2022; Sun et al , 2016b; Xian et al , 2022; Zhu et al , 2016) have found that the bending strength and the interlaminar shear strength of the composites decreased after experiments were conducted in the chemical media solution system. In addition, concerning the use of CFRP materials with metals, galvanic corrosion effects also affect the degradation of CFRP (Abdulsalam and Presuel-Moreno, 2021; Zhang et al , 2019), further the degradation of composites causing changes in microstructure and state, and the microstructure of CFRP has a great influence on its electrochemical behavior (Zhang et al , 2020), so in addition to the commonly used performance tests of CFRP, the degradation of CFRP can also be studied by electrochemical means.…”

“…Concrete is currently the most used building material 1–7 . However, under the effect of freezing and thawing, chloride penetration, sulfate attack, etc., the reinforced concrete structure often cannot reach the designed service life 8–13 . In order to maintain the performance of the reinforced concrete structure, it needs to be repaired and strengthened.…”
