“…Identity assignments were performed on an Agilent 1100 Series system (Agilent, Waldbronn, Germany), equipped with DAD (G1315B) (Agilent) and LC/MSD Trap VL (G2445C VL) (Agilent) electrospray ionization mass spectrometry system, coupled to an Agilent Chem Station (version B.01.03) data‐processing station. The chromatographic separation method (HPLC‐DAD) for the determination of phenolic compounds, mainly hydroxycinnamic acids and flavonols, was developed based on the procedure reported by Parada et al . via the use of a Kromasil ClassicShell‐2.5‐C 18 (4.6 × 100 mm, 2.5 μm) column and a C 18 precolumn (Novapak; Waters, Milford, MA, USA; 22 × 3.9 mm, 4 μm).…”

“…Total phenol concentrations were determined by the method of Alonso et al . adapted to a microplate reader as described by Parada et al . Absorbance was read at 750 nm, and gallic acid was used as a standard.…”

“…The chromatographic analysis was carried out using a C 18 Symmetry Waters column (250 × 4.6 mm, 5 µm) with a Novapak, Waters C 18 pre‐column (22 × 3.9 mm, 4 µm) using 0.2 N phosphoric acid (pH 2.1) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0 mL min −1 in isocratic elution at 30 °C. Quantification was carried out at 210 nm by external calibration …”

“…Nevertheless, there is no information about antioxidant concentrations in strawberry plants cultivated in the Chilean Andisols, where the bioavailability of P is deficient. In a recent related study, Parada et al . demonstrated that arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) colonization increased total antioxidant activity even with a decrease in total anthocyanins, suggesting that a series of antioxidant compounds could be responsive to the main factors that influence P nutrition, such as AM symbiosis and both the type and doses of P fertilizer.…”

“…Oliveira et al reported an increase in the production of total flavonoids, vitexin‐2‐ O‐ rhamnoside, and orientin in Passiflora alata when inoculated with Gigaspora albida and grown in vermicompost. On the other hand, in a study with another fruit plant, Fragaria ananassa (strawberry), Parada et al reported that anthocyanin values were not affected by the joint action of mycorrhization and organic or chemical fertilizers. In ginger ( Zingiber officinale ), leaves and rhizome presented higher concentrations of phenolic compounds, antioxidant activity, and essential oils when the plants were inoculated with Claroideoglomus etunicatum and grown in organic substrate, confirming that the application of the fungus associated with organic fertilizers may increase the synthesis of plant compounds .…”
