Background: One of the most important demographic challenges over the recent three decades in the world has been a significant fall in the fertility rate. This study aimed to investigate factors related to childbearing intentions among a sample of Iranian women. Methods: A cross-sectional study of a sample of Iranian married women attending 8 centers in Saveh was conducted in 2015. A total of 483 married women 15-49 years old participated in this study. A questionnaire was used to collect data about demographics, attitude, subjective norms, marital satisfaction, social support, hopefulness, and behavioral intentions of childbearing. Results: Overall, 62% of women in the study intended to have children in the next 2 years. The group willing to have children had a higher score on attitude, subjective norms, hopefulness, perceived social support, and marital satisfaction compared to the group unwilling to have children. Also, the regression results revealed that the variables of age, literacy status, employment status, husband literacy, women and husband occupation status, attitude, subjective norms, hopefulness, perceived social support, and marital satisfaction were significant predicting factors for childbearing intention (P < 0.05). Conclusions and recommendations: The findings highlighted the importance of psychological factors such as marital satisfaction and social support in the childbearing process. Thus, health system planners should pay more attention to these determinants of fertility intention.

Interes znanstvene javnosti ne smanjuje se kada je u pitanju istraživanje kvalitete obiteljskog funkcioniranja, unutar obiteljskih odnosa, komunikacije i ostalih čimbenika koji (ne)omogućuju cjelovit i zdrav razvoj svih članova, a posebice djece i adolescenata. Provedeno istraživanje imalo je za cilj ispitati percepciju obiteljske komunikacije i zadovoljstva obitelji od strane adolescenata i njihovih roditelja. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 156 sudionika iz 49 obitelji sa šireg područja grada Splita, a provedeno je od listopada do prosinca 2019. godine. U istraživanju su, osim Upitnika demografskih podataka, korišteni Podskala obiteljske komunikacije i Podskala zadovoljstva obitelji iz FACES IV instrumenta. Rezultati istraživanja su potvrdili značajnu razliku u procjeni kvalitete komunikacije roditelja i adolescenata, pri čemu su je roditelji procijenili višom; nisu utvrđene razlike sudionika u procjeni zadovoljstva obitelji te je utvrđena značajna povezanost između komunikacije i zadovoljstva obitelji.

Background: The present study examined the effect of Group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (GCBT) on inefficient beliefs and marital satisfaction in pregnant women with the Fear of First Childbirth (FoFC). Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a Pre-test-Post-test and a control group design. The study participants were pregnant women with FoFC who visited Quchan health center in 2018. The study participants were selected using a questionnaire of childbirth fear (as screening) of women with the fear of giving birth. Then, by providing an informed consent form, women volunteering to participate in the project (39 people) were randomly assigned to the experimental (20 people) and control (19 people) groups. The experimental group attended ten 90-minute GCBT sessions. Three questionnaires (Attitude to Childbirth, Jones' Irrational Beliefs, Afrooz Marital Satisfaction) were used to obtain the required data. Results: The study findings revealed that GCBT significantly affected inefficient beliefs and marital satisfaction in studied pregnant women with FoFC (P<0.001). Moreover, There was a significant difference between Pre-test and Post-test mean scores in terms of inefficient beliefs and marital satisfaction (P<0.001). Conclusion: GCBT was effective in inefficient beliefs and marital satisfaction; thus, this method is recommended to improve the relationship between pregnant women and their spouses during pregnancy.
