“…The improved synthesis of phenolics and flavonoids as well as antioxidant enzymes detoxify ROS and mitigate stress in gallic acid, and rutin treated plants under stress. Pheomphun et al (2019) observed that reduced H 2 O 2 , MDA, and enhanced activity of antioxidant enzymes in catechin supplemented plants for the alleviation of stress. Higher proline has been observed in plants facing stress (Ahmad et al, 2018).…”

“…MDA content was analyzed in Zamiocalcus zamiifolia to study catechin (an antioxidant) in ozone tolerance. The exogenous catechin lowered the lipid peroxidation and maintained the MDA level under ozone stress (Pheomphun et al 2019). The accumulation of manganese in different tissues of Broussonetia papyrifera resulted in cell membrane lipid peroxidation, which increased MDA level and toxicity in the plant (Huang et al 2019).…”

“…This is believed to increase energy and decrease the peak wavelength. Conversely, during reduction, catechin promotes the removal of oxygen, suppresses the transfer of electrons from the valence band, and reduces the bandgap energy [28]. This process is assumed to reduce energy and increase the peak wavelength.…”
