Effect of Drip Fertigation on Potato Productivity with Basal Application of Loss Control Fertilizer in Sandy Soil

Abstract: To establish appropriate drip fertigation scheduling with loss control fertilizer (LCF) as a basal fertilizer in sandy soil, a 2‐year field study was conducted to evaluate the effects of five fertilizer levels (10, 30, 50, 70 and 90% of the recommended fertilizer dose (RFD) in 2012, and 10, 35, 60, 85 and 110% of RFD in 2013) on potato biomass, tuber yield and fertilizer and irrigation water productivity. All LCFs were applied as basal fertilizer while drip fertigation was applied when soil matric potential at… Show more

“…All irrigation and fertigation treatments have higher values than the T5F1.0 and T5F0.5 treatments in which water is not used. These values show similarities with (Ayas, 2010;Alva et al, 2012;Badr et al, 2012;Ayas, 2013;Feng et al, 2018;Gültekin and Ertek, 2018;Essah et al, 2020). Tuber weight values of T1F1.0 and T1F0.5 treatments were higher than the other treatments.…”

“…The total amount of fertilizer (base fertilizer, urea, potassium nitrate added up) was 273 kg N ha −1 , and was determined according to the nutrient amount of soil and fertilization requirements of potato in the study site (Feng et al 2018). The base fertilizer was potato specific fertilizer of K 2 SO 4 type with the N-P-K ratio of 12-19-16 (produced by Sino-Arab Chemical Fertilizer Co., Ltd) during planting.…”

“…This local irrigation practice resulted in much higher soil water potential and consequently the irrigation efficiency (IE), the ratio of crop evapotranspiration to irrigation amount, was low (0.31). In the following three seasons, we installed three dial type tensiometers (Beijing Waterstar Tech Co., Ltd., Beijing, China) at 20 cm depth under the drip tape to help the farmer schedule irrigation [45][46][47]. When soil matric potential reached −35 kPa irrigation was started.…”
