Effect of Different Doses of Doxorubicin on Pituitary Gland and Some Testicular Function in Adult Male Rabbits

Abstract: The present study was designed to search out the effect of different doses of doxorubicin some functions of pituitary gland and testes in adult male rabbits. Twenty adult male rabbits were randomly divided into four equal groups and treated for 28 days as follows: first group (control) were injected with normal saline; second group (GI) were injected with doxorubicin 3 mg/ kg B.W., while animals in the third group (GII) and fourth group (GIII) injected with 3.5 and 4 mg/ kg body weight of doxorubicin respectiv… Show more

“…Thirty-five adult rabbits (n=35) will randomly divided into four group (7 rabbits/each group) as following: (A) first group: seven rabbits will received distal water (D.W) orally (-ve control), (B) Second group: fourteen rabbits divided to two subgroup equally administrated with doxorubicin 4 mg/kg B.W (Al-okaily et al,2013) (+ve control) intraperitoneally (I.P) between day to day for 14 days to induce cardio toxicity (Swamy et al, 2011) (first subgroup leave two weeks then killed, while second subgroup leave to 28 days without treatment), (C) Third group: seven rabbits administrated with Eruca sativa mill (gergeer) Leaves ethanolic extract daily for 28 days Orally by stainless gavage needle, (D) Fourth group: seven rabbits administrated with Eruca sativa(gergeer) Leaves ethanolic extract orally daily for 14 days as protective then we give doxorubicine 4 mg/kg B.W (Al-okaily et al, 2013) intraperitoneally (I.P) between day to day for 14 days (Swamy et al, 2011). While continuing to give Eruca sativa mill (Gergeer) orally for 28 days.…”

“…The pilot study of Eruca Sativa Mill in rabbits as in ( The calculated value of LD50 of Eruca sativa in the rabbit was estimated by "up and down" method, the result of rabbit were shown in table (1)(2)(3) for each group. The Troponin-I level of the control positive group revealed a significant increase (P<0.05) as compare with G3,G4,G5 and control negative group (Dox) with no significant variance (P<0.05) in comparison with G1 at dose (25 mg/kg B.W) and G2 at dose (50 mg/kg).…”

“…The cTn-I level of the G3 at dose (100 mg/kg B.W) exhibited a significant elevation (P>0.05) is compared with treated G4,G5 group at a dose (200,400 mg/kg B.W) and control negative group with a significant reduction (P<0.05) is compared with G1, G2 group and control positive group ; while treated G4 ,G5 group at dose(200 ,400 mg/kg B.W) exhibited a significant decline (P>0.05) is compared with treated G1,G2,G3 group and control positive at a dose (25,50,100 mg/kg B.W) and there was no statistical different (P>0.05) when compared with control negative group. As in table (1)(2)(3)(4).…”
