Effect of dietary zinc pectin oligosaccharides chelate on growth performance, enzyme activities, Zn accumulation, metallothionein concentration, and gene expression of Zn transporters in broiler chickens1

Abstract: This study was to investigate the effect of zinc pectin oligosaccharides chelate (Zn-POS) on growth performance, serum enzyme activities, tissue zinc accumulation, metallothionein (MT) concentrations, and gene expression of zinc transporters (ZnT) in broilers. Five hundred forty 1-d-old Arbor Acres broiler chicks were randomly assigned to 5 dietary groups with 6 replicates of 18 birds per replicate. The diets were formulated with the same supplemental Zn level (80 mg/kg diet) but different amount of the Zn-POS… Show more

“…Dietary supplemented with 100 mg/kg ZnSO4 or glycine‐Zn could improve the growth performance and gut barrier function of weaned piglets, and organic Zn had the best effect (Diao et al, 2021). The outcomes from broilers showed that dietary supplementation of 0, 200, 400, 600 and 800 mg/kg Zn pectin oligosaccharides chelate linearly and quadratically increased the body weight on d 42 and the average daily gain and gain‐to‐feed ratio during 22–42 days and 1–42 days (Wang et al, 2019). Compared to broilers fed conventional Zn sources (60 mg/kg), broilers given dose of nano‐Zn (20 mg/kg) performed better in terms of growth (Zhao et al, 2014).…”

“…Zinc can effectively regulate MT gene expression at the transcriptional level [44][45][46]. Wang et al [47] found that MT concentrations in the liver and pancreas of broilers supplemented with organic zinc were significantly higher than those in the control group. Different zinc sources also have an important effect on the expression of MT mRNA.…”
