Effect of Dietary Modified-Banana-Tuber Meal Substituting Dietary Corn on Growth Performance, Carcass Trait and Dietary-Nutrients Digestibility of Coloured-Feather Hybrid Duck

Abstract: <p class="abstrak2">In this experiment, we investigate the effect of modified banana tuber meal (M-BTM) to substitute dietary maize in growing-finisher colored-feathered hybrid duck. One hundred and ninety six hybrid ducks (Pekin x Khaki Campbell) with 421.31 ± 0.183g body weight (BW) were allotted to 5 dietary treatments with 9 ducks (unsexed) per pen and 4 replications per treatment. These dietary treatments were: NC (negative control; maize-soyabean-meal based diet), BTM25 (25% maize was replaced by M… Show more

“…Sjofjan et al (2020b) stated that herbal ingredients containing natural antibiotics such as turmeric, which contains essential oils and curcumin, play a role in improving the work of the digestive organs, stimulating the bile wall, secreting bile, and stimulating the release of pancreatic sap containing amylase, lipase and protease enzymes that improve digestion and absorption of nutrients. In addition, the mechanism of action of antibiotics can allow them to act as growth promoters (Sjofjan et al, 2021). Sjofjan (2003) stated that the balance of nutrients and intensive maintenance patterns can also affect egg production.…”

“…Good body condition will reduce mortality in livestock. Sjofjan et al (2021) stated that mortality in adult ducks was in the range of 2-5%, with ducks being a type of livestock with fairly high adaptability to a rural environment. Jin et al (2000) have investigated the use of Lactobacillus acidophilus as an additive to broiler feed.…”

“…Agricultural by-products are becoming an important component of poultry feed in some areas, largely due to increased competition for conventional ingredients by humans and the food industry. The use of agricultural by-products as alternative feed ingredients is recommended to reduce production costs and maximize income (Sjofjan et al, 2021).…”

“…Furthermore, it increases protein availability and value through the formation of sulfur which contains amino acids and promotes palatability for monogastric livestock such as broilers [9]. Sjofjan [10] added that the antitrypsin activity in soya beans can be removed by soaking followed by heating because antitrypsin acts as an antinutrient that is very unstable to heating. In line with Sjofjan and Adli [11], breaking of the trypsin inhibitor complex bond in feed ingredients due to the heating process decreases antitrypsin activity.…”
