Effect of Cynomorium total flavone on depression model of perimenopausal rat

Abstract: Cynomorium total flavone can adjust hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis by increasing E2, and make related biomedical indexes and hormone receptors tend to be normal, so as to relieve perimenopausal syndrome and perimenopausal syndrome with depression.

“…Ethanolic C. coccineum has an estrogenic RP of 1.78 × 10 –4 ( Zhang et al, 2005 ). Recent studies reported that C. coccineum was antidepressant in perimenopausal rats ( Miao et al, 2017 ) and reduced memory impairment in OVX rats ( Tian et al, 2019 ). In this plant, phytoestrogen- and phytoandrogen-like effects have been detected ( Wang et al, 2017 ; Tao et al, 2019 ) and various type of compounds, including eight triterpenoids, six flavonoids, four fatty acids, eight phenolic acids, one anthraquinone, one nucleoside, and one sterol have been identified ( Li X. et al, 2020 ).…”

“…The therapeutic potential of CSF has garnered significant attention in research studies. The administration of CSF at doses of 0.2 g/kg, 0.1 g/kg, and 0.05 g/kg has mitigated perimenopausal depression in female SD rats by modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis through an increase in E2 levels [ 164 ]. Not singly but in pairs, CSF (400 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg) also effectively demonstrates significant therapeutic efficacy in perimenopausal depression KM female mice, ameliorating the pathological alterations in the uterus, thymus, spleen, and hypothalamus [ 165 ].…”

“…C. songaricum have promising effects against inflammation, aging, fatigue, viruses and cancer and protective effect on the nervous system. This plant also have antifungal effect(Gonçalves et al, 2015), regulates hormones and immune functions(Wang et al, 2016) and also exhibits a neuroprotective and antidepressant effect and improves cognitive functions(Cheng et al, 2017;Miao et al, 2017).…”
