A series of hierarchical porous aluminosilicate materials were prepared using hydrothermal treatment of the composite formed by polystyrene colloidal spheres and aluminosilicate gel. Influence of Al content on the textural properties, acidic properties and catalytic activity of the hierarchical porous aluminosilicate materials was studied. The results showed that textural and acidic properties of the hierarchical porous aluminosilicate materials were strongly related to Al content. As Al content is increased (n Si /n Al = 25), the hierarchical porous catalysts exhibited higher catalytic activity and major product selectivity for alkylation of phenol with tert-butanol than the catalysts with a lower Al content (n Si /n Al = 50).
