“…The observation of the Ce 3+ and Cr 3+ excitation bands while monitoring the Nd 3+ emission is a clear evidence of the Ce 3+ → Nd 3+ and Cr 3+ → Nd 3+ energy transfer in Y 3 Al 2 Ga 3 O 12 :Ce 3+ ,Cr 3+ ,Nd 3+ . 16,26…”

“…YAGGbased PL phosphors were fabricated by the authors cited above by solid-state reaction at 1600 °C, which produces highly sintered material. Other synthesis methods like the Pechini solgel, 13,14 modified Pechini sol-gel, 15 and coprecipitation, 16 followed by calcination at high temperature, were also employed to synthesize YAGG-based PL phosphors. All these methods led to ceramic materials with uncontrolled shape and size, not useful for the aforementioned bio-applications.…”

“…28 Thus, YAGG:Ce is regarded as a favorable phosphor for green converters due to the strong absorption of blue light, high luminescence efficiency, broadband emission in the visible band and low cost. [29][30][31][32] The excellent chemical stability of YAGG:Ce benefits from its specific yttrium aluminum gallium garnet crystallographic structure. {A} 3 [B] 2 (C) 3 O 12 is the general formula for garnets.…”

“…13 Doping with rare earth ions is realized mainly with ions where the emission of f–d transitions take an active role and other rare earth ions act usually as creators of additional traps, making the persistent luminescence longer and brighter. Therefore many phosphors based on Ce 3+ , 14,15 Tb 3+ , 16,17 or Pr 3+ (ref. 18 and 19) have been developed and used in different applications.…”
