Effect of Bulking Materials on Composting of Layer Litter

Abstract: Abstract:The experiment was carried out to examine the possibilities of making compost by using layer litter with different bulking materials and to assess the nutritive value of compost. To fulfill the objectives five treatments were considered e.g., anaerobic composting with layer litter (T 1 ), layer litter with straw (T 2 ), layer litter with tree leaves (T 3 ), layer litter with crop residues (T 4 ) and layer litter with saw dust (T 5 ) under soil surface. The samples from composted materials were collect… Show more

“…Some small scale industry can be developed in our country in rural areas that may help to create some employment opportunity. Compost can also provide a steady supply of nutrients to growing plants and increase the soil ability to retain essential minerals (Stevenson, 1994;Alam et al, 2013;.…”

“…Manure should be decomposed through composting, vermicomposting or anaerobic digestion before applied to the soil (Al Amin et al, 2020;Rahman et al, 2020aRahman et al, , 2020bRana et al, 2020;Roy et al, 2013;Sarker et al, 2021). Manure can be converted into valuable resources through proper treatment; otherwise it may be the cause of environmental pollution (Ahsan et al, 2013;Alam et al, 2013;Lee et al, 2009;Islam et al, 2010;Rahman et al, 2013;Sarker et al, 2009;Won et al, 2016).…”

“…The old litter material was changed using new rice husk to prevent dampness. Poultry litter is also a good source of compost preparation that rich in macro and micro nutrients for plant growth (Alam et al, 2013). Vaccination, deworming and debeaking programmes of the experimental birds were shown in Table 3.…”
