Effect of Baluran Gum Arabic on Blood Glucose Level in Diabetic Rat (Rattus Novergicus )

Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease which indicated with increasing blood glucose level. Carbohidrate, protein, mineral and secondary metabolite (alkaloid, tannin and saponin) can be benefical to treat diabetes mellitus. Rats were randomly divided into three groups. First, control group. Second, STZ group, untreated diabetic. Third, STZ+GA 15% group, diabetic treated with GA 15%. Result showed that blood glucose level before STZ induction on control and STZ group within normal range 78,57±11,90 mg/dL and … Show more

“…Thus far, there have been no studies that have examined the effect of the administration of neem gum on the reduction in blood glucose levels. A study conducted by Wiyono et al (2021), discovered that administering Baluran arabic gum at a dose of 15% in STZinduced Wistar rats at 40 mg/kgBW could reduce fasting blood glucose levels. In the 28-day study, serial fasting blood glucose was examined every 7 days, and it was discovered that blood glucose levels in the group administered gum arabic solution at a dose of 15% decreased significantly on days 14 to 28 compared to the group that was not given gum arabic solution.…”

“…Furthermore, FBG measurements were carried out before the rats were induced by STZ, three days after STZ induction (pretest), and on the last day of treatment (posttest). If the FBG level measured after STZ induction reached ≥126 mg/dL, then proceed to the administration of neem gum solution (Wiyono et al, 2021;Dewi et al, 2022). In addition, rat blood was collected aseptically with a needle (a blood lancet) by piercing the tip of the rat's tail.…”

“…Kadar GDP tikus model DM lebih tinggi dibandingkan tikus normal. Penelitian ini sejalan dengan penelitian lainnya, yaitu kadar GDP tikus DM yang tidak mendapat perlakuan lebih tinggi dibanding tikus kontrol normal (Wiyono et al, 2021). Induksi NA dan STZ dapat menyebabkan kerusakan sel β pankreas secara parsial sehingga mengganggu sekresi insulin.…”

“…However, but its potential has not been studied for the gum part. Research on the effect of gum on rat blood sugar levels has been carried out on Arabic gum by Nagar (2017) and Wiyono et al (2021), but has never been studied on Moringa gum.…”
