Effect of Adjuvant, Concentration and Water Type on the Droplet Size Characteristics in Agricultural Nozzles

Abstract: One of the goals of adding adjuvants to agricultural spray solutions is to enhance the droplet size characteristics of this spray. Droplet size, in turn, has an influence in the deposited spray quality, in addition to the drift and losses of spray to off-target places. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of adding adjuvants to two types of water from different sources on the droplet size characteristics. Two types of adjuvants were employed in the tests: the active substance content of the firs… Show more

“…Contrary to the previous experiment, Patton et al (2018) reported that herbicides equally well controlled Taraxacum officinale L. and Trifolium repens L. with low‐volume equipment despite low carrier volume and coarse droplet size. Milanowski et al (2022) reported that adding the adjuvant (rapeseed oil, natural origin) numerically decreased the percentage of droplet size. The effect of reducing spray volume is different in different herbicides.…”

“…The droplet size affects the quality of the spray solution, in addition to the loss due to drift. A reduction in the number of fine droplets may decrease the potential for exodrift [ 25 ]. In this sense, air induction nozzles can be used.…”
