In this paper, magnetic fibers were integrated with seamless knitting technology. Additionally, the raw materials for the outer fabrics and the relevant yarn feed ratio were designed, including the polypropylene yarn with different magnetic powder contents (0%, 10% and 50%) and its yarn feed ratio (100:0, 75:25, 50:50 and 25:75) to graphene viscose yarn. In addition, weft plain stitch, 1 + 1 mock rib and 1 + 3 mock rib were adopted to weave polyamide fiber/polyurethane fiber wrap yarn as the lining materials into 12 knitted fabric samples on a seamless knitting machine according to the partial addition method in the orthogonal experimental design. As per the test and analysis results of the magnetic flux density on the front and back surfaces of 12 seamless knitted fabrics, polypropylene yarn with different magnetic powder contents in outer fabrics is the most significant factor affecting the magnetic flux density on the surface, followed by the yarn feed ratio of outer fabrics and fabric stitches. The findings in this study can provide a reference and theoretical basis for the specification design of seamless knitted fabrics manufactured by magnetic fabrics to a certain extent.

In the modern era, there has been a significant interest in intelligent materials. Smart textiles’ capacity to be employed primarily in healthcare settings for pressure-sensing applications has increased their popularity; however, the thermal microclimate is not being significantly focused. The primary goal of this research is to analyze the thermal microclimate of knitted shoe soles developed using a variety of materials and knitted structures. Acrylic and silver-coated polyamide yarn have been used to develop textile structures, including single jersey, honeycomb, double pique, cross miss, birds eye, and pique. The knitted materials varied in their combination of knit, tuck, and miss stitches. Dry fluids transmission, wet fluids transmission, and heat retention capabilities of specimens have been analyzed to investigate the thermal microclimate. Static charge and electrical resistance tests were used to evaluate the pressure-sensing performance. Overall, the honeycomb construction performed better in terms of thermal comfort attributes. A similar trend was observed for pressure sensing performance, in which fabrics composed of tuck and miss stitches showed efficient pressure sensing owing to fewer yarn bending points in the structure. The data were also analyzed statistically by performing the analysis of variance test in which the significance of studied input variables was obtained with P values less than 0.05.

This study aims to examine the effect of rib set-out repeat on the structural characteristics and mechanical properties of double-knitted fabrics after dry relaxation and four washing cycles. The focus is on the behavior of the fabrics in terms of dimensional stability and stretch properties. Half Milano rib and nine variants of double weft knitted fabrics differed by the number of inactive needles in the rib set-out repeat were produced from a 25 × 2tex × 2 cotton/flax yarn on a 10-gauge flat-bed knitting machine. It was found that the rib set-out repeat affects dimensional changes in both directions: an increase in the number of inactive needles increases shrinkage. The rib set-out repeat also significantly influences the structural characteristics. As the number of inactive needles in the rib set-out repeat increases, the double-knitted fabric becomes denser, thicker, and heavier. The analysis of stretchability indicates that the repeat didn`t affect full lengthwise deformation but affected the full widthwise deformation. Fabrics with an identical percentage of inactive needles (50%) exhibit minimal differences in properties. The study results are particularly significant for a manufacturer to enhance the quality of knitted fabrics by understanding their dimensional stability and stretch performance.
