“…In the case of alcohol misuse, such intervention has shown positive results in some studies 4043. This type of intervention has already been applied to traffic casualties involving alcohol in Spain,33 but its implementation can be difficult in EDs,44 mainly for infrastructure-related reasons. A qualitative review of web-based interventions for substance use disorders by Copeland and Martin45 in 2004 concluded that further clinical outcome research, particularly in the area of brief interventions for alcohol use disorders and extension to other drugs such as cannabis and other drugs, is certainly justified.…”

The adherence rate after three months was 67% (54-96%) based on ten studies [19,20,22,27,28,35,36,39,40,48], after six months 72% (45-89%) based on 15 studies [11,23-25,27,29,30,33,36-38,41,44,47,48] and 67% (27-92%) after twelve months based on 15 studies [11,23-27,29,30,33,34,37,41,44-46]. …”

“…Además, los médicos y enfermeras de los SU adolecen de una falta de entrenamiento en técnicas de intervención y no suelen estar familiarizados con los recursos para la derivación. Más aún, una actitud escéptica del entorno que devalúe el trabajo del personal, puede desmotivar y restar la colaboración incluso de los profesionales entrenados (Rodríguez-Martos, Torralba, Escayola & Plasencia, 2005).…”

“…Additionally, ED clinicians or nurses lack exposure to and skill in intervention techniques and are unfamiliar with referral resources. Moreover, a sceptical environment that devaluates ED staffs' efforts can reduce enthusiasm of even trained clinicians to initiate screening and/or brief intervention (Rodríguez-Martos, Torralba, Escayola & Plasencia, 2005).…”
