EEF1DP3 (Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 delta pseudogene 3)

Abstract: Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 delta pseudogene 3, alias EEF1DP3, is a pseudogene. This review collects the data about its DNA/RNA and on the diseases where it is involved.

“…EEF1DP3 is abnormally expressed in a very large list of cancers and diseases. 60 It has been reported to be highly expressed in adrenal carcinomas i.e. adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) and pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PCPG), brain lower-grade glioma (LGG), rectum adenocarcinoma (READ), gynaecological cancers such as cervical squamous cell carcinoma, endocervical adenocarcinoma (CESC) and uterine carcinosarcoma (UCS), head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), hepatocellular carcinoma samples (LIHC), lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), mesothelioma, acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and lymphoid neoplasm diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBC), skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD), sarcoma (SARC) and urinary tract cancers such as urothelial bladder carcinoma (BLCA), chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (KICH), kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) and kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP).…”

“…These have been found in many kinds of cancer, such as in breast cancer 39 , 40 , 41 , 42 and Burkitt's lymphoma, but also non-neoplastic disorders. 60 The most reported of these alterations is the EEF1DP3/FRY fusion originating from the read-through transcription between EEF1DP3 and FRY gene. EEF1DP3/FRY is a recurrent read-through fusion transcript that was first detected in vitro in KPL4 breast carcinoma cell-line 61 and then was also detected in vivo in breast cancer samples but cannot be detected in breast normal tissues counterparts or blood samples from EEF1DP3/FRY positive patients.…”
