This paper deals with a new highly modular simulation tool, named as "PVLab" and developed by the GREMAN laboratory, to better size photovoltaic (PV) installations. The programming structure and the physical models implemented within this simulation tool are explained. Several case studies are proposed to highlight the relevance of this new simulation tool. The yearly virtual electrical energy production results of grid-connected PV plants are discussed. In particular, these results are compared with the PVsyst tool ones. PVLab has a high level of flexibility, allowing modifying the physical models and databases (for instance, meteorological data) according the users' needs. This is permitted through the expertise in all the computing steps and particularly, the MATLAB development environment. Controlling the source code gives itself a huge potential in the field of renewable energy applications in comparison with PVsyst which is currently the commercial reference. This point is particularly discussed at the end of the paper.

In this paper introduces a novel Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) as a Maximum Power Extracting (MPE) of photovoltaic standalone system is proposed, which can handle the uncertainties of the rules under high deviations in climate conditions. Conventional Perturb and Observe (P & O), hill-climbing MPE structures are examined. The MPE employed boost converter controller. The new controller improves P & O based maximum power tracker search method by rules fuzzifying of such method and eliminates the conventional drawback. A new FLC based improved P & O offers an accurate and fast converging to MPE during steady state and changing climatic situation compared to existing P & O and hill climbing method. The performance of the designed MPE is demonstrated in simulation MATLAB at dissimilar operating circumstances.

Abstract.. This paper presents an algorithm for modeling and Maximum Power Point (MPP) detection of a Photo-Voltaic (PV) module. This algorithm requires less information to get an accurate model and MPP. Open circuit voltage (V OC ) and short circuit current (I SC ) of the PV module are required as inputs data. Both of them can be sampled from a reference PV Panel. A PV model and MPP are estimated via Newton-Raphson (NR) method. Fractional V OC and I SC method and simplified method are used for detecting the starting values of MPP and model parameters of a PV panel respectively. Then, the NR method is applied to calculate the accurate values of MPP and model parameters of it. Determination of MPP enables the PV system to deliver maximum available power. Verification of this algorithm is accomplished through building it in MATLAB. Then, it is tested for different manufacturer modules at different operating conditions.
