Eco-Friendly Disperse Dyeing and Functional Finishing of Nylon 6 Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

Abstract: Abstract:In this work, a supercritical carbon dioxide assembly was successfully constructed for dyeing Nylon6 fabric. Primary experiments were carried out to confirm the possibility of bringing the dyeing up to factory scale. A series of disperse azo dyes with potential antibacterial activity were applied to dye the fabric under our study in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2). The factors affecting the dyeing conditions (i.e., dye concentration, time, temperature and pressure) and functional properties were … Show more

“…Excellent results were obtained related to the color quality as well as the antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli [44]. In the following study, Elmaaty et al [45] investigated antimicrobial disperse dyeing of polyamide (Nylon 6) textiles in supercritical and liquid CO 2 . The process was conducted at pressures 5, 10, and 15 MPa; temperatures of 80, 100, and 120 • C, for time 1-3 h, and with hydrozono propanenitrile dyes concentration of 2-6% over the weight fiber.…”

“…Efficient dyeing and excellent antimicrobial and fastness properties were obtained using scCO 2 dyeing procedure. A series of disperse azo dyes with potential antibacterial activity were also applied to nylon 6 fabric using scCO 2 technique and compared with aqueous dyeing [22]. The comparison showed that samples dyed under scCO 2 medium had excellent antibacterial efficiency and better color fastness properties compared with the conventional exhaust dyeing with the advantage of the elimination of auxiliary chemicals.…”

“…It is worth mentioning that azo‐hydrazone tautomerism is of importance not only to dyestuff manufacture but also to other areas of chemistry. Also, azo‐hydrazone tautomers have different tinctorial strengths (and economics) and different properties, e.g., rubbing and washing fastness . From the above and from the conjunction to previous interest in developing synthesis of poly functionally substituted hetero aromatics utilizing readily obtainable and inexpensive starting components , we report here on synthesis of thiazolo[3,2‐ a ]pyrimidine derivatives using β‐ketoanilides 1a–c , aromatic amines, and thiourea 2 as starting materials and as key intermediates for application as disperse dyes for dyeing polyester fabrics.…”
