Earthquake Vulnerability Assessment of High-Rise Buildings in Surabaya using RViSITS Android Application

Abstract: This article presents about vulnerability assessment of high-rise building in Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia. In 2007, the Earthquake National Research Center -Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works released the latest earthquake fault map. Include the discovery of Surabaya fault and Waru fault that across Surabaya. According to that new discovered fault, it is possible that there is a higher potential earthquake hazard for buildings structures in Surabaya. Therefore, the efforts to assess the vu… Show more

“…In Figure [29], we can see the performance of the ANN-1 model for the given data. According to the investigations, the more points that lie along the x=y (red line), the more accurate the model is (in Figure [29]). Figure [30] displays the error function profile (Predicted value vs Actual value) for ANN-3.…”

“…The use of mobile devices also represents a promising opportunity for optimizing field surveys. For example, the android-based RViSITS (Rapid Visual Survey by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember) app [12] is aimed at optimizing data gathering for assessing the vulnerability of high-rise buildings (8-15 floors). This app permits a direct application of the Rapid Visual Screening method for estimating the seismic vulnerability of large sets of constructions based on correlations between the predicted seismic performance of specific typologies and materials [10].…”

“…The software works on any mobile device with a browser without the need to download an application; however, it requires an active data connection. The preearthquake assessment according to FEMA's RVS is addressed also by the RViSITS [78,79], the Urban RAT [80], and the ML-EHSAPP [81] applications. The information gathered by the latter helps the training of artificial neural networks in order to refine the evaluation of seismic vulnerability and the exposure of buildings.…”
