“…In the literature review, it was found that the earthquake related content in coursebooks was analyzed both in Türkiye (Duman Kocabaş, 2011;Kırıkkaya, Ünver and Çakın, 2011;Kılıç, 2019;Önal, 2019;Değirmenci, Kuzey and Yetişensoy, 2019;Karaca, 2022) and in the world (Morrisey, 2004;Izadkhah and Hosseini, 2005;Komac, Zorn and Ciglič, 2013;Hayashi, 2014;Seddighi et al, 2021;Li et al 2022, Seddighi et al, 2022 as part of the topic of general disasters. Both in Türkiye and in different countries around the world [Japan (Satake, 2015), USA (Gerstenberger et al, 2005), Philippines (Ong et al, 2021), China (Xiang et al, 2021), Taiwan (Chao et al, 2020), India (Hazarika and Kayal, 2022), Greece (Bonatis et al, 2022), Romania (Micu, Micu and Havenith, 2023), Canada (Eyre et al, 2022), Germany (Sach, Buchner and Schmeiden, 2020), Finland (Veikkolainen et al, 2021) etc.] earthquakes take place sometimes and negatively affect daily life.…”

“…In general terms, there are recent detailed descriptions of this landslide-prone environment resulting from the analysis of their preconditioning, preparing and triggering factors, and focusing on the landslides' morphogenetic complexity, types and spatial patterns [27,28], land-surface variables for landslide detection [29], DEMs and sampling design for landslide susceptibility modeling [30][31][32], climatic and seismic triggering factors [33][34][35] and exposure assessment [36].…”

“…Coupled events (high-magnitude seismic shaking and co-seismic landslide). Clear signs of earthquake-induced landslides are associated with high-magnitude earthquakes, exceeding Mw > 7, in boh dry and humid conditions [35]. Moreover, knowing that for large, deep-seated landslide initiation, extended periods (7-180 days) with precipitation are needed and the return period of heavy precipitation (FR10) and very heavy precipitation (FR25) range from 30 to 100 years [26,27], one should assume that at least 1-3 times per century, the Vrancea seismic region faces a propitious multi-hazard (large earthquakes and heavy precipitation) scenario, resulting in major geomorphic impacts of deep-seated landslides on river networks.…”

“…As such, resources from many countries have been devoted to studying landslides and mitigating future losses. Products from these studies include hazards maps (e.g., Kirschbaum & Stanley, 2018; Micu et al., 2023; Nowicki Jessee et al., 2018), susceptibility maps (e.g., Crawford et al., 2021; Huang et al., 2020; Hughes & Schulz, 2020), early warning systems (e.g., Baum & Godt, 2010; Guzzetti et al., 2020), and emergency response plans (e.g., Godt et al., 2022; Wooten et al., 2017). Although these efforts have improved our knowledge and response to landslides, additional work would be beneficial to further reduce landslide effects.…”
