Earthquake Dynamic Failure Mechanism of Dangerous Rock Based on Dynamics and PFC3D

Abstract: The dynamic failure mechanism of horizontally layered dangerous rock during earthquakes is complex and only few studies have addressed the combination of particle flow code (PFC) meso-level failure mechanism and mechanical analysis. Based on fracture mechanics and material mechanics we establish a calculation method for the interlayer load and stability coefficient of horizontal layered dangerous rock during strong earthquakes. The method was applied for calculating the stability of a horizontally layered dang… Show more

“…The key of particle flow code (PFC) to simulate the mechanical behavior of materials is to generate the initial model (Zhang et al, 2021;Xu and Xu, 2021;. First, the PFC servo system is used to adjust the packing density, size, and contact precision of the model particles to the ideal state and make them in the state of force equilibrium (Tian et al, 2021;Sarfarazi et al, 2021). After the initial model is generated, in order to make the macroscopic and microscopic mechanical properties of the specimen correspond to each other, the calibration test is carried out according to the stress-strain curves of the specimen measured under uniaxial compression, and the microscopic parameters are adjusted repeatedly by PFC.…”

“…Another accident occurred on February 22, 2020, in the Xinjulong mine in Shandong, resulting in four deaths and the loss of 18 million RMB. In the aforementioned incidents, the tunnelcut coal areas were subjected to the lateral abutment pressure of the goafs and mining stress in the working face, which affected the associated geological structures and accumulated a significant amount of strain energy in the areas in question (Cui et al, 2021;Liu et al, 2021;Tian et al, 2021;Wu et al, 2021). Therefore, failure of overlying strata readily occurred over a wide area, resulting in rock bursts.…”
