Earth observation and sustainable development goals

Abstract: Planet Earth is a dynamic body, which is home to 7.8 billion people, and strong interactions exist between the human population and the Earth's different components (land, ocean, biosphere, cryosphere and atmosphere). The impacts of such interactions are observed from the day-today changes in weather, solar radiation, cloudy conditions, poor visibility, rainfall and frequency of natural hazards around the globe. The dynamic nature of the Earth is evident at the ocean coast through the ocean waves, the nature o… Show more

“…Multi-hazard zonation is considered as a notable research area worldwide to depict the comparative hazard level in local administrative units. Natural disasters associated with land, ocean, and atmosphere have been widely recognized worldwide, and their severities, as well as impacts, may alter the perspectives and preparedness to fulfil the sustainable development goals (Singh 2020). To this end, many researchers considered multi-hazard zonation in several countries considering local boundaries (Bell and Glade 2004;Thierry et al 2008;Kappes et al 2012;Siddique and Schwarz 2015;Zhou et al 2015;Barua et al 2016;Forte et al 2019).…”
