“…The uppermost beds of this formation grade up into coarse sediments and near the top are interlayered with exotic lenses of mudstone and siltstone (respectively of early Oligocene and latest Cretaceous ages) that increase in size up-section. This sequence, including the exotic lenses observed east of the Owahanga settlement, was described as the Owahanga Melange by Delteil et al (1996). A similar sequence, though thinner and lacking large exotic lenses, is exposed much farther south on the coast in the Flat Point area (Chanier 1991).…”
