Some experimental studies are presented on the compensated mixture cholesteryl chloride + cholesteryl laurate (65:35 wt yo) to which the pleochroic dye xylenazo-P-naphtol is added in two ratios: 1 : 100 and 1 : 200 by weight. The colour electro-optic effect, the dynamic scattering, and the pulsing electrohydrodynamic instabilities are studied.
