Dynamic Characteristic Improvement of Integrated On-Board Charger Using a Model Predictive Control

Abstract: This paper proposes a dynamic characteristic improvement of an integrated on-board charger (OBC) using a model predictive control (MPC) method. The integrated OBC performs both battery charging and starter generator (SG) driving for engine starting in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). If it performs battery charging, battery-side voltage and battery-side current are control objects which are usually controlled by using a proportional-integral (PI) controller. However, it has the disadvantage of undesir… Show more

“…An improved DB predictive current control strategy was proposed in [106] to lessen the effects of grid voltage distortion, parameter dependency, and control delay in single‐phase charging infrastructure for EVs. To increase dynamic characteristics and robustness from a sudden fluctuation in load impedance, an MPC approach was developed in [107] for an integrated on‐board charger for EVs.…”
