Dye Solar Cells: Basic and Photon Management Strategies

Abstract: Since the introduction and development of the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) several efforts have been made to optimize the materials involved in the photo-electrochemical process and to improve the light conversion efficiency of the device , by exploiting a low cost production process based on simple fabrication methods, similar to those used in printing processes

“…However, the insert of Figure 4C which shows the difference between aligned and misaligned J SC measurements, does not reflect the spectral property of the sensitizer. The alignment of pump and probe seem to enhance the cell performance across the entire visible spectrum and suggests that the enhancement comes from trap-filling which enhances the overall performance of the device, due to laser biasing 30 .…”

“…The time behaviour is reported in Figure 11. In the first three days there a slight increase in J sc and, hence, in efficiency of the solar cell was observed: in this time range, the electrolyte manages to completely fill all the pores of the TiO 2 structure [52].…”

“…The substrate is inserted into an oven for 5–15 min at 400–450 °C to convert the precursor into metallic Pt. The two electrodes are sealed together by a thermoplastic gasket (few tens of microns thick), heated at 150 °C, and pressed for nearly 1 min …”
