Abstract

Duygusal Zekâ ve Ebelik* Emotional Intelligence and MidwiferyÖzet Duygusal zekâ, bireylerin öncelikle kendi duygularını anlamalarını ve yönetebilmelerini sağlayan, bunun yanında başkalarının duygularını anlayabilme, empati kurabilme, motivasyonlarını arttırma ve özgüven duygularını geliştirme olanağı tanıyan bir kavramdır. Duygusal zekâ, ebelik uygulamalarında profesyonel ilişkilerin ve karmaşık olaylarda farklı bakış açılarının gelişmesine yardım edebilir. Ebeler, gebelere empatik bir tutumla yaklaştıklarında onların gereksinimlerini daha doğru saptayabilir ve olumlu sonuçlar elde edebilirler. Çünkü ebe tarafından anlaşıldığını hisseden birey önemsendiğini, ona güvenildiğini ve kendisine değer verildiğini düşünür. Bu durum ebenin bireye ulaşmasını kolaylaştırarak bireyin bakımı kabul etmesini de kolaylaştıracaktır. Duygusal zekâyı kullanma, çalışma yaşamında başarıya ulaşmanın bir anahtarı olarak görülmektedir. Mesleki başarıya ulaşmak ve etkili ebelik bakımı vermek için; ebelik eğitimi başladığı andan itibaren, ebe adaylarının duygusal zekâlarını kullanma ve geliştirmeye yönelik becerileri kazanmaları sağlanmalıdır. Duygusal zekânın gelişimi ile birlikte sağlık çalışanlarının mesleki yaşamlarında başarılı olabilmeleri kritik düşünebilme, eleştirel bakabilme, sorgulayabilme ve karar verme yeteneklerinin artması ile mümkün olabilecektir.
