Dual-time point PET/CT with F-18 FDG for the differentiation of malignant and benign bone lesions

Abstract: The results of this study indicate that dual-time point F-18 FDG PET may provide more help in the differentiation of malignant tumors from benign ones.

“…Thereafter, semi-quantitative analysis by the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) normalized to body weight, measured the activity (voxel with maximum uptake) in a region or in the volume of interest. A cut-off of 4 for SUVmax was chosen as it has been shown to be correlated to good discrimination between malignant and benign bone lesions [17].…”

“…The value of dual point PET imaging using F-18 FDG has been widely studied with emphasis on differentiation of benign and malignant tumors and improvement of tumor detection in the oncology area based on the alteration of glucose-6-phosphatase expression [9][10][11]. Specific uptake of F-18 FP-CIT of the normal striatum reaches a peak equilibrium state at 90 min or more after injection [5,6].…”

“…region of interest; volume of interest) [14][15][16][17][18].
