Clinical Significance of F-18 FP-CIT Dual Time Point PET Imaging in Idiopathic Parkinson’s Disease

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the diagnostic value of dual time point F-18 FP-CIT PET imaging in idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD). Materials and Methods Twenty-four patients with PD (mean age 69.6) and 18 healthy people (mean age 70.26) underwent two sequential PET/CT scans (dual time point imaging) at 90 and 210 min after F-18 FP-CIT injection. Tracer activity of region of interest was measured in the caudate, putamen and a reference region in the brain from both time points. The out… Show more

“…FP-CIT PET was acquired using Discovery 600 (General Electric Healthcare, Milwaukee, MI, USA). After 90 min of administration of approximately 185 MBq (5 mCi) FP-CIT 53 , PET images were acquired for 15 min with a 256 × 256 matrix and reconstructed with an ordered-subsets expectation-maximization algorithm in an iso-0.98 mm voxel size.…”

“…Enfin, il est à signaler, par ailleurs, que l'acquisition des images TEP à des temps multiples de l'injection du radiotraceur a é galement é té é tudié e dans le cadre de pathologies non-oncologiques, notamment infectieuses [189][190][191], inflammatoires [192][193][194], l'exploration de plaques d'athé rosclé rose [195][196][197], de pathologies neurologiques [198][199][200][201] ou encore dans la graisse brune [202,203].…”

“…Although several studies showed the benefits of dual-phase 18 F-FP-CIT PET/CT in diagnosing PD [ 16 , 17 , 18 ], only a few studies dealing with the dual-phase 18 F-FP-CIT PET/CT to differentiate APS from PD [ 19 , 20 ]. In particular, there was no study suggesting the cut-off value through quantitative analysis.…”
