Dual-phase MoS2 as a high-performance sodium-ion battery anode

Abstract: A dual-phase MoS2 with expanded interlayer distance is fabricated for sodium storage. The dual-phase MoS2 shows significantly improved electrical conductivity and enhanced Na+ diffusivity compared to the common 2H-MoS2.

“…Theoretical Calculations: All spin-polarized DFT calculations were performed under the general gradient approximation using the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof functionals as implemented in the Vienna ab initio simulation package. [45][46][47][48] The core-electrons were treated with the projector augmented wave method. The kinetic cutoff for plane-waves was set at 450 eV.…”

“…6a) was smaller, indicating its lower charge-transfer resistance. This can be attributed to the 1-T phase existed in disordered structure of MoS 2 -MS [47,48]. Meanwhile, the slope of line at the low frequency related to the MoS 2 -MS-based anode was steeper than that of MoS 2 -MS-800-based one, also indicating that the MoS 2 -MS-based anode possessed a lower diffusion resistance due to the larger interlayer spacing and more defects, which facilitated the intercalation of Na ?…”

“…As a first example, we used data taken from an MoS2-based battery. [55] The Nyquist plot of the EIS spectrum is shown in Figure 12 (a) with the corresponding admittance in Figure 12 (b). As shown in Figure 12 (c) and (d),…”
