Dual‐Functional Templated Methodology for the Synthesis of Hierarchical Porous Carbon for Supercapacitor

Abstract: Dual‐functional templated methodology was developed for synthesis of hierarchical porous carbons via direct thermal decomposition of agricultural wastes, in which dairy manure acted as low cost carbon precursor and eggshell as both hard template and activating agent source of CO2. The dual‐functional template can be easily removed by diluted HCl instead of corrosive HF. Carbonization temperature and dosage of eggshell have great influence on the porous texture of the carbon materials. Optimized temperature of … Show more

“…The XRD pattern and Raman spectrum of the resulting carbon/CaO composites are shown in Figure S1. For the carbon/CaO composite obtained at 600 °C, no characteristic crystalline phase of CaO is observed, since CaCO 3 was not decomposed below 650 °C . The carbon/CaO prepared at 800 °C (CS-CaO-800) shows crystalline phase dominated by calcium oxide, indicating the presence of CaO in the composite synthesized from crab shell.…”

Higher temperature (1000 °C) caused no change of crystalline phase of the resulting composite (CS-CaO-1000).…”

“…All these curves show linear monolayermultilayer adsorption properties and hysteresis loops, and hysteresis loops are generally considered to be related to the capillary condensation process occurred in mesopores, indicating the presence of mesopores. [38][39][40][41] Furthermore, it can be noticed that carbonized samples adsorb little nitrogen while porous carbons adsorb a large amount of nitrogen at low pressure, indicating that most of micropores should be created during the KOH activation process.…”
