Introduction Plummer Vinson syndrome also known as Paterson Brown-Kelly syndrome is a syndrome associated with the triad of symptoms comprising microcytic hypochromic anemia, oesophageal strictures, and dysphagia. PVS is commonly found in women of middle age especially in the fourth and fifth decade of life and is rarely reported in males. Case Report The authors report a case of 43-year-old male patient who presented with the classic symptoms of Plummer Vinson syndrome. Conclusion Dentists have to be familiar with symptoms of PVS and a thorough clinical examination of the patient is necessary for early diagnosis and treatment. As PVS is a precancerous condition with high malignant potential, early diagnosis is of utmost importance for better prognosis. Clinical Significance Mutual interaction of systemic and oral health has largely been underestimated by many patients in the developing countries and hence this report includes a note on importance of adequate medical history taking and its relevance to the dental health and treatment.

Objective : Gingival pigmentation (changes of the gingival color) from brown to black discoloration may occur due to exogenous and endogenous factor. Increased concentration of heavy metal in the blood has been known to be one of the exogenous factors that could lead to gingival pigmentation. Nuha is a sub-district in South Sulawesi which soil contains high concentration of nickel and other heavy metals. Heavy metal contaminations in the water, soil, or air have detrimental effects on human health, particularly the oral cavity.Material and Methods : This study proposed to determine the association between duration of residence with gingival pigmentation to the community of Nuha District of East Luwu society. This study was a descriptive observational with cross-sectional study design.Results : The population in this study was all of the Nuha residents. The sampling technique used was simple two-stage cluster sampling. Gingival pigmentation in this study was measured using Dummet Oral Pigmentation Index (DOPI).Conclusion : The data obtained showed significant association between duration of residence with maxillar and mandibular gingival pigmentation in the residents of Nuha District of Luwu Timur. p-value for maxillar DOPI was 0.003 and for mandibular DOPI was 0.000.

Trigeminal neuralgia (ТN) is the most common pathological condition of the cranial nerves and the most common cause of pain in the orofacial region. More and more literary data indicate that a in significant number of patients, ТN is caused by compression on the root of the trigeminal nerve, close to its entry into the pons in the aberrant arterial or venous loop leading to pathohistological changes in the nerve while in most of the same, the etiological factor for the pathology of TN remains a mystery. Numerous medical and surgical procedures are available, usually without a number of randomized clinical trials and studies of placebo-controlled groups. As a result, most patients experience refractory pain, which has a significant effect on reducing their quality of life. It is still unclear how available treatment methods can be best used. Medical treatment consists of anticonvulsant drugs, muscle relaxants and neuroleptic agents, alternative treatments with botulinum toxin. In patients resistant to drug therapy, promising i.е. recommended surgical procedures include microvascular decompression, gamma-knife surgery, and percutaneous techniques of the Gasser ganglion. In this paper we will present a systematic review of the literature and investigate the outcome of different types of therapeutic procedures in patients with trigeminal neuralgia.
