Droplet Size Distribution Characteristics of Aerial Nozzles by Bell206L4 Helicopter under Medium and Low Airflow Velocity Wind Tunnel Conditions and Field Verification Test

Abstract: To investigate the spray atomization characteristics of aerial nozzles adapted to manned agricultural helicopters under medium-low airflow velocity (0 to 27.8 m/s) conditions, the droplet size test was carried out in both wind tunnel and field tests. In the wind tunnel test, the laser diffraction device (LDD) was used to test the spray droplet size of CP02, CP03, and CP04 aerial nozzles. A Bell206L4 helicopter was used in the field test. The results in the wind tunnel test showed that due to the nozzles had be… Show more

“…Thus, in terms of agricultural aviation, China lags far behind the United States, Russia, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, and South Korea. In the sparsely populated areas of the United States, manned fixed-wing aircraft is the most popular form of agricultural aviation [4][5][6][7] . The development mode of agricultural aviation in Russia, Australia, Canada, and Brazil is the same as that in the United States, which is characterized by the use of manned fixed-wing aircraft and rotary-wing helicopters [8] .…”

“…The influence of flight parameters, particularly flight path, also was noteworthy. There are differences in the deposition directly below and on either side of a flight path due to the rotor airflow and nozzle arrangement 19,37 . In addition, it is clear that the droplet deposition of different treatments also showed significant differences, especially for T1, which was significantly higher than that of T2 and T3.…”
