“…Thomas and Bond (2014), for example, explained how advances in technology have contributed to the obesity epidemic and worsened health statuses across the globe due to reduced opportunities for physical activities. Other studies, including Preko, Shabaya and Anim‐Yeboah et al (2022), have also outlined a myriad of unintended consequences of digital health technologies from both providers' and consumers' perspectives. While the literature provides several theoretical conceptualizations of the impact of these digital technologies on the healthcare industry in general, the viewpoint of the ultimate stakeholder, that is, the healthcare consumer , who is the final consumer of the technology (Palvia et al, 2017) is acutely lacking in literature, particularly from the perspectives of DCs.…”
