Draft Methodology to Specify the Railway Sections Capacity

Abstract: This paper presents the individual parameters of the selected railway corridors in the selected country. Particularly, it describes the specific features of selected corridors in this country, summarizes their capacity, as well as proposes the methodology in order to specify the capacity of given railway section. The outcome is represented by the calculation of the appropriate railway section capacity implemented on the particular railway corridor in the selected EU country.

“…Then, from our example the time of occupation, T obs = 540 min and based on the formula t medz = 0.420 + 0.564.t obs , the total gap time T medz = 304.98 min and consequently the use of permeable performance will be K prakt = 58.68%. The slight deviation between these values and the values based on ŽSR methodology, is caused by estimation of the regression correlation equation parameters, which has the reliability value R2 = 0.999 [15][16][17][18].…”

“…In order to meet this goal, it is necessary to determine the optimum length of a doubletrack liner (section) with the corresponding safety device (see equation 1) [11][12][13][14] From the above calculation, it is clear that the length of a double-track liner for smooth crossing must be at least 1397 m. After the performed analysis of the track section, it would be most efficient to build a double-track liner in a constraining section of the single-track line between Drienovská nová Ves station and Haniská pri Prešove station. The distance between these two points is 5,100 m, which meets the condition of the minimum distance of a double-track liner for smooth crossing.…”
