Draft Genome Sequence of Raoultella terrigena R1Gly, a Diazotrophic Endophyte

Abstract: Raoultella terrigena R1Gly is a diazotrophic endophyte isolated from surface-sterilized roots of Nicotiana tabacum. The whole-genome sequence was obtained to investigate the endophytic characteristics of this organism at the genetic level, as well as to compare this strain with its close relatives. To our knowledge, this is the first genome obtained from the Raoultella terrigena species and only the third genome from the Raoultella genus, after Raoultella ornitholytic and Raoultella planticola. This genome wil… Show more

“…began to surface. Through the rise of applying WGS for bacterial isolates from environmental samples, detailed genomic information became available for Raoultella ornithinolytica isolated from soil, Raoultella planticola isolated from river water, and the diazotrophic endophyte Raoultella terrigena isolated from Nicotiana tabacum [ 46 48 ]. With respect to diazotrophic associations with cereal crops, recent investigation into a diazotrophic strain of R .…”

“…Klebsiella planticola , K. ornithinolytica and K. terrigena were reclassified as Raoultella planticola , R. ornithinolytica and R. terrigena , respectively . N 2 ‐fixing Raoultella has long been found to associate with plants , but its N 2 fixation in association with plants has not been determined.…”

“…Klebsiella planticola, K. ornithinolytica and K. terrigena were reclassified as Raoultella planticola, R. ornithinolytica and R. terrigena, respectively [11]. N 2 -fixing Raoultella has long been found to associate with plants [3][4][5][12][13][14][15][16][17][18], but its N 2 fixation in association with plants has not been determined. N 2 -fixing strain L03 was isolated from surfacesterilized roots of a sugarcane cultivar GT28 plant grown in Nanning, Guangxi, China [19].…”

“…Accordingly, all of K. pneumoniae isolate genomes are predicted to encode the capacity for nitrogen fixation, consistent with previous results (14, 26). The single Raoultella ornithinolytica isolate characterized here also contains the same 16 nif genes; Raoultella species have previously been isolated from sugarcane (27) and have also been demonstrated to fix nitrogen (28).…”
