Doxycycline induced generalized bullous fixed drug eruption – A case report

Abstract: a b s t r a c tAdverse drug reactions are a major hazard of modern medicine. “…[ 10 ] Doxycycline is an antibiotic, belonging to the tetracycline group which is one of the common causes of classical FDE (macule/patch); however, rarely it may cause nongeneralized/localized bullous FDE[ 11 ] or generalized/multifocal bullous FDE. [ 12 ] In our case also, doxycycline has been implicated to cause GBFDE, along with mucosal involvement.…”

“…Doxycycline CARD includes photosensitivity; also, patients may develop a morbilliform exanthem. Less common skin side effects include bullous eruptions, lupus-like eruptions, pigmentary disorders, and vasculitis [5][6][7][8]. The development of simultaneous or multiple doxycycline-induced CARD is unique; indeed, we are not aware of a previous description of this phenomenon.…”
