Este estudo teve como objetivos caracterizar os usuários com diabetes mellitus tipo 2, segundo variáveis sócio-demográficas e clínicas, e analisar os escores de conhecimento e atitude em relação à doença. Participaram 79 usuários atendidos em um serviço de atenção básica à saúde em 2008. Para a obtenção dos dados, foram utilizados os Questionários de Conhecimento (DKN - A), e de Atitudes Psicológicas do Diabetes (ATT - 19). A população caracterizou-se por adultos e idosos, com idade entre 30 e 80 anos; predominantemente do sexo feminino (63,3%), casada (63,3%) e alfabetizada (96,3%) com obesidade classe II. Quanto ao conhecimento da doença, obtiveram-se escores inferiores a oito, indicando resultado insatisfatório quanto ao autocuidado. Os escores obtidos em relação às atitudes mostram dificuldades para o enfrentamento da doença, apontando os resultados para a necessidade de implantação de Programa de Educação em Diabetes a Unidade de Estudo.

ABSTRACTThis article aims to present how the meetings and cognitive-behavioral techniques used during the sessions of the Support Group for Fibromyalgia Syndrome patients were structured in a university clinic located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. 20 sessions were held, distributed weekly during the year 2015, the time was approximately 75 minutes, with an average participation of 15 people, the group was opened and coordinated by two psychology trainees. The meetings aimed to produce a space where the participants could share their experiences and develop skills to face the diffi culties related to Fibromyalgia Syndrome. Through the experience it was possible to verify cognitive distortions and how much the belief of self-effi cacy can help in facing the diffi culties. A literature review was carried out regarding Fibromyalgia, methods of treatment in psychology, psychological aspects of Syndrome and the psychosocial impact on the life of these people. The aim of the discussion was to carry out a dialogue between the aspects found in the literature review with the experience report, denouncing in this way how the psychological support can help to maintain the well -being and quality of life of the participants of the group.

Background: Backcare education administered in a group situation is one of the most effective and economic methods of treating back pain. It is based on available scientific knowledge of the physiology and mechanics of the spinal structures and their relationship to daily activities. It provides the patient with a better understanding of the problem, aiming primarily at helping the patient take responsibility for his or her back pain, while relieving pain and functional disability.Methods: This study was carried out on 100 patients of chronic low back pain, attending the OPD of Post Graduate Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College Jammu for a period of one year. Assessment was carried out before the treatment and after the treatment at four weeks, three months & six months post treatment. The following scales were used to measure the therapeutic response: the Modified Oswestry low back pain disability index, Visual analogue score (VAS), and clinical parameters like finger to floor distance and straight leg raising.Results: The patients showed significant improvement at 1 month, 3 months and 6 months post treatment when compared to base-line data (p<0.001).Conclusions: It was concluded that all chronic low back pain patients would benefit from a group program of back care education.
