The method of introducing of finely ground granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) in the composition of the cement as a result of dry mixing of the material with the additive is considered. The aim of the research was to study the effect of the addition of finely ground slag on the construction, technical, physical, mechanical, and structural characteristics of cement with mineral additives. The setting time was studied, the normal density of the cement paste with the addition of finely ground slag was determined. The dependences of the strength and porosity of the cement stone on the time of hydration of samples are built. The strength of the cement was determined by the national standard GOST 30744-2001. The porosity of the cement stone was determined by saturating the samples with an inert liquid. It has been established that the introduction of 3–5% of slag 1 and 1–3% of slag 2 provides an increase in the strength of cement stone during the first days of hardening on average by 37–44%; at the grade age - by 26–30%, decrease in porosity — by 17–28%. It is shown that the introduction of finely ground slag additives compacts and strengthens the structure of the cement stone. It has been established that grinding GBFS to a size of 1 μm (slag 1) is impractical because the obtained research results are comparable with the results when slag 2 is introduced into the cement composition.

Efficiency of stabilization of slag suspensions by polycarboxylate

The paper describes the method of stabilization of slag suspensions prepared on the basis of finely ground slag (FGS) with a predominant particle size of 1-7 μm, a plasticizer based on polycarboxylate (polycarboxylate). In suspension, FGS particles form two types of micelles with negative and positive surface charges. It has been established that stabilization with polycarboxylate, which is an anionic long-chain surfactant, affects slag particles with a positive surface charge. The formation of strong and elastic gel-like films on the surface of FGS leads to an increase in the structural and mechanical factor of aggregative stability of slag suspensions. Thus, the stabilization of slag particles by polycarboxylate is ensured by electrostatic, structural and mechanical factors of aggregative stability. It was established experimentally that the introduction of polycarboxylate into the aqueous dispersion medium increases the aggregative and sedimentation stability of slag suspensions. In the first period of particle sedimentation, on average, stability of slag suspensions is increased by 36 times, in the second period - 19 times, in the third period - 4 times. To ensure stability of slag suspensions, the protective number and the optimal concentration of the polycarboxylate are determined. The protective number of the suspension was 0,016 g/l; the optimal concentration of polycarboxylate - 4 g/l.

Thermobaric conditions in oil and gas wells require the use of backfill materials with special physical and chemical properties. Cement composites are subject to the requirements of fluidity (to ensure uninterrupted delivery to the cementing site), timely formation of the necessary mechanical strength (to prevent the interaction between the cement glass and reservoir fluids), corrosion resistance, impermeability and durability. Therefore, the composition of the cement slurry should be selected based on the mining and geological characteristics of the well.Wellbores wall are reinforced with protective pipes, which are attached to the well with cement or cement slurry. It is needed to protect wellbores wall from rock falls, gas, oil and water shows and to isolate productive formations. If this operation is carried out qualitatively, then the outer part of the casing string will be protected from the impact of the formation fluid. Otherwise, pipe corrosion may occur, which can lead to the destruction of the cement stone and, as a result, to accidents.
