“…It is important to conduct qualitative research in prisons to promote a better understanding of the relational aspects of prison life (Drake et al, 2015). It is also challenging, however, due to particular methodological issues relating to accessibility and freedom of movement inside penitentiaries, and a failure to recognize the value of such research (Ferreccio and Vianello, 2014).
