“…5 Retrograde flow has been detected from the pulmonary artery into the bronchial arteries distal to the anastomosis immediately after resection. 4 However, healing will be impaired if this is the only arterial supply to the anastomosis. Surrounding tissues provide some systemic supply to the distal part of the anastomosis.…”

“…These may result from disruption of the vascular supply, and care must be taken to preserve the blood supply of the bronchus at the anastomosis. 4 Other authors have emphasized the importance of other factors such as the avoidance of tension or infection, which may affect healing. 5 The anastomotic technique is clearly of importance.…”
Our experience suggests that the results of continuous suture technique are comparable with those from reported series using interrupted suture technique for tracheal and bronchial anastomosis.

“…During the early period after an operation, the peripheral bronchus of the bronchial anastomotic site is nurtured by backflow from the pulmonary artery. 16 Thus stenosis at the pulmonary vein often leads to BPF, as observed in the ND1 and ND2 groups. For these reasons, special care should be taken to prevent stenosis at the anastomotic site of the pulmonary vein.…”
The extensive lymph node dissection had severe adverse effects on bronchial anastomotic healing in extracorporeal lung resection. Therefore extracorporeal lung resection can be applied to only a very limited number of patients with N0 or N1 disease.
“…anastomoses, were macroscopically inspected. The detailed procedure of silicone rubber injection was previously reported [6]. The other two dogs were sacrificed for standard microscopic observation of the anastomoses 2 or 4 weeks after transplantation.…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
