Does persistent anti-HBc positivity influence the prognosis of HBsAg-negative hepatocellular carcinoma? comparative outcomes of anti-Hbc positive versus anti-Hbc negative non-B non-C HCC

Abstract: Isolated anti-HBc seropositivity in HbsAg negative patients tend to present incidentally with delayed diagnoses resulting in larger tumors, but their long-term survival remain comparable.

“…Our results confirmed that hepatitis B core antibody-positive was the evidence of HBV infection and a dangerous mark for all OBI patients, similar to other reports (Cacciola et al, 1999;Fattovich et al, 2008;Matsue et al, 2010;Coppola et al, 2014Coppola et al, , 2016Lee et al, 2015;Law et al, 2019;Qu et al, 2019;Suzuki et al, 2019). Furthermore, our findings showed that the mean maximum tumor diameter of the HBsAb Seropositivity Group was significantly smaller than that of the HBsAb Seronegative Group.…”

“…8 Without the alert of virus markers, most NBNC HCC cases do not have periodic medical examinations and are diagnosed at an advanced stage. 5,9 Ultrasonography (US), computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) have been used for diagnosis, but these techniques are dependent on the quality of the equipment and expertise of the operator. Some people could not be examined for their own reasons, such as allergy to the contrast.…”
