“…(D) As ambient P O2 declines, Ṁ O2 first decreases with a more or less constant slope, and then transitions to a much sharper slope of declinee.g. crucian carp (Nilsson, 1992), zebrafish (Feng et al, 2016), branquinha (Johannsson et al, 2018).…”

“…Cyphocharax abramoides, another hypoxia-tolerant fish, it was verified that most of the oxidative damage occurs during hypoxia not during re-oxygenation (Johannsson et al, 2018). However, rapid re-oxygenation can interfere with the antioxidant status of cells, causing more stress to fish (Johannsson et al, 2018).…”

However, rapid re-oxygenation can interfere with the antioxidant status of cells, causing more stress to fish (Johannsson et al, 2018). Therefore, an effect of hypoxia and rapid re-oxygenation and related metabolic changes on the blood ability to deliver oxygen to the tissues cannot be ruled out (DiMichele & Powers, 1982).…”

“…Low levels of SOD can be caused by increased lipid peroxidation due to the amount of free radicals absorbed by the body. The higher SOD enzyme activity indicates the lower lipid oxidation products that occur (Johannson et al, 2018).…”
