Does Dynamic Efficiency of Public Policy Promote Export Prformance? Evidence from Bioenergy Technology Sector

Abstract: This study examines how the dynamic efficiency of public policy influences the export performance of bioenergy technologies in the short and long run using panel data over the 1995-2012 period for 16 countries that are members of the OECD. Various dynamic panel framework tests to check data characteristics are performed. The study found evidence of co-movement among the series, and set up the panel vector error correction mechanism to evaluate the short-and long-run Granger-causality between the following vari… Show more

“…Implementation of the two-step system GMM estimator addresses endogeneity bias, as the dependent variable can be correlated with the lag of the dependent variable, or there could be reverse causality. This estimator has been used in numerous recent environmental studies [38,[41][42][43]. Moreover, the GMM estimator is applied for small T and large N panels, as we have a dataset with many countries and few years.…”

“…Simultaneously, they contribute to the emergence of a comparative advantage and export growth in 'cleaner' industries [25]. Sung and Song [26] examined how environmental policy stringency influences the export performance of the bioenergy technology sector in the short and long run using panel data over the period 1995-2012 for 16 OECD countries. They found a positive impact of the strength of environmental policy on exports in both the short and long run.…”
