Does an informational film increase women's possibility to make an informed choice about second trimester ultrasound?

Abstract: An informational film does not increase women's knowledge or the number of women making an informed choice about the second trimester ultrasound. Women who did not make an informed choice about the second trimester ultrasound had a lower level of education and less knowledge about second trimester ultrasound screening.

“…The outcome measures were assessed by both validated and author-developed instruments. In the studies evaluating the effect of any interventions on patient outcomes during prenatal screening and testing process, informed decision, informed choice, decisional conflict, and decisional regret were among the main outcomes assessed by mostly validated tools such as the decisional conflict scale, the decisional regret scale, the informed choice questionnaire, and the multidimensional measure of informed choice (Bekker et al, 2004;Beulen et al, 2016;Björklund et al, 2012;Cloutier et al, 2017;Hunter et al, 2005;Kaiser et al, 2002;Kordi et al, 2018;Kuppermann et al, 2009;Nagle et al, 2008;Öhman et al, 2012;Skjøth et al, 2015). In some studies, authors used non-validated questionnaires to assess some aspects of informed decision making (Brajenović-Milić et al, 2008;Gammon et al, 2018;Graham et al, 2000;Hewison et al, 2001;Hwa et al, 2010;Kleinveld et al, 2008;Knutzen et al, 2013;Leung et al, 2004;Peters et al, 2017;Rothwell et al, 2019;Smith et al, 2018;Stefansdottir et al, 2010;Yee et al, 2014).…”

In addition, the digital divide has been reported to act as a barrier to access for some segments of the population such as the elderly, people from low socio-cultural backgrounds, or disabled persons (23), (24), (25). Additional considerations may be necessary to ensure inclusion of these populations.…”
