Higher education on educational sciences in Turkey is practiced at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level. Of these, graduate and doctorate levels are postgraduate studies and end with the defense of the theses prepared by students on the advices of their supervisor/s within the institute of educational or social sciences. Most of the times, juries for thesis defense are designated by the thesis supervisor. The purpose of this research is to descriptively examine how thesis supervisors decide on the names to form thesis defence juries at graduate and doctorate level studies in Social sciences education. Data collection process and analysis in the study where document analysis is one of the qualitative research methods; It consists of four stages: scanning theses, determining the sample, data processing, data analysis in the field of social studies education. 1227 master's and 84 doctoral thesis studies were grouped according to their advisors, universities and the number of advisors who made their thesis. In the study, in which all theses in the field of Social Studies education constitute the universe, consultants who manage 4 or more theses have been formed by using criterion sampling from purposeful sampling in order to make the data meaningful. In this context, the defense juries of the theses directed by 91 consultants were examined. As a result of the research, it has been determined that 91 faculty members who have 4 or more postgraduate and doctoral theses in the field of social studies teaching have a strong tendency to determine the same faculty members as jury members while creating the thesis jury. These theses were examined by browsing the "National Thesis Center" site of the Higher Education Council (YÖK).

Dil öğretiminde temel kaynaklardan biri ders kitaplarıdır. Bu doğrultuda yabancılara Türkçe öğretimi ders kitaplarına gereken hassasiyetin gösterilmesi, dil öğretim sürecinin sağlıklı bir şekilde ilerlemesinde yadsınamaz bir gerçekliktir. Bu makalede, yabancı dil olarak Türkçenin öğretiminde bazı kurumlar tarafından farklı içeriklerle oluşturulan ders kitaplarını belirlenen kıstaslar ölçüsünde inceleyen yüksek lisans ve doktora tezleri, nitel ölçütler ışığında değerlendirilmiştir. İncelemeye alınan lisansüstü çalışmalar, 2007-2020 yılları arasında yayınlanan araştırmalarla sınırlandırılmıştır. Makalede, yayınlanma tarihine göre önce yüksek lisans tezlerinin daha sonra ise doktora tezlerinin künyesi ve değerlendirmeleri yer almaktadır. Yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretimi alanında ders kitabı incelemesi yapan; 106 adet yüksek lisans, 8 adet doktora tezi tespit edilmiştir. Tespit edilen tezlerin muhtevasında bulunan problem durumları, bulgular ve sonuçlar incelendiğinde; bazı çalışmalarda örneklem değişmekle beraber aynı konu etrafında araştırmaların yapıldığı, birbirini tekrar eden çalışmalarla yıldan yıla nicel bakımdan artışın olduğu görülmektedir. Yüksek lisans ve doktora tezlerinin, aynı konular etrafında birbirini tekrar etme durumu dikkat çekmektedir. Bu sebeple; ders kitabı incelemesi yapan lisansüstü çalışmaların değerlendirilmesi, araştırmanın çıkış noktasını oluşturmaktadır.

Doktora Öğrencilerinin Doktora Eğitimi ve Öğretim Üyelerine Yönelik Metaforik Algıları

The aim of this study is to determine Phd students' perceptions on 'doctorate education' and 'instructors' by means of metaphors. The study group consists of 63 students actively attending their doctorate education at various departments of some universities in Turkey. This group was chosen using criterion sampling method which is one of the purposive sampling methods. The current study was designed as a phenomenological study one of qualitative research methods. The data was analyzed through content analysis. To collect the data a semi structured form which was developed by the researchers was utilized. The results showed that participants totally produced 56 metaphors and 52 of them were different. When the metaphors were grouped based on the reasons put forward; 29 of the metaphors reflected positive perceptions, 25 of them reflected negative perceptions and two of them reflected neutral perceptions. Participants produced 58 metaphors for instructors and 43 of them were different. When these metaphors were grouped based on the reasons put forward, 38 of them reflected positive perceptions, 12 of them negative perceptions and one of them neutral perceptions. As for 7 metaphors, they reflected positive and negative perceptions simultaneously.
